The Minami twins were born in 20th century Japan. The older twin, Shirayuki, was born with rare blonde hair and icy blue eyes. She was considered a true blessing, a child as beautiful as the moon must surely be blessed by the gods. The younger twin, Kurayami, was born with hair as dark as the night and eyes the color of blood. She was thought of as a demons child, shunned by society and hidden away by her parents. The twins were as different as day and night, an angel and a demon. Their parents still loved them deeply, but they would lose them both. First Kurayami, at the age of 3, would pass on in a terrible drowning accident caused by fear of her red eyes. And then, 12 years later, Shirayuki would lose her life in a horrible house fire caused by an enemy of the Minami family. Though they were now in the same place it would many years would pass before they finally reunited again.
