K-Pop Review: Kim Jaejoong - Mine

Okay, so, this video actually came as a big surprise to me, because actually I didn't really know who Kim Jaejoong was before this. I mean, I had heard his name before, but I couldn't place where or when. And honestly, I had no idea who he was anyway… I know, I’m so bad, right? Sorry!

Well, anyway, Simon and Martina talked about this song in their K-Pop chart update and I thought it sounded interesting, so I decided to check it out and it turned out to be a completely AMAZING song. And its sooo inspiring! And I also had a really freaky experience with this video: the day before - well, more like the night before - I first watched this video I had this awesome dream (which I definitely should turn into a story) and it reminded me so much about this song! It was totally creepy!

But back to the song.

It has these hauntingly beautiful piano pieces, and some really awesome guitar playing (I love both very, very much.), and it made me realize how much I actually miss the rock genre now that I listen to so much pop and hip hop. Rock being such a big part of the song, thou mixed up with some pop, dance and what not, but the rock definitely shows through a lot.

Something I loved about the song is that you can feel the emotions of the song through both his voice and the music. The fear of new things, loneliness and pain that he sings about is definitely there in his voice.

The music playing while he sings conveys that fear and the will to keep everything the way it is, his will to keep everyone away so that they can’t hurt him. But when the piano steps in you immediately feel the loneliness he’s feeling due to that fear of change.

So, put simply, this is an amazing song, but maybe I should talk a bit about the video as well.

I love the fantasy theme (like the fantasy nerd I am), it’s so beautifully made, and it suits the feel of the song really well. And I know there is a lot of symbolism in there, with all of its abstract scenes and stuff. But since I don’t really know much about those kind of things I won’t even try to talk about it. There is also A LOT of things in this MV that I’ll use as a reference in upcoming fantasy stories, because there is so much awesomeness in this video, like cool vampires and stuff.

So all in all? This song and video is soooo amazing, WATCH IT NOW!
